Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th, 1991. She's an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. Her debut EP Pho, released was released on the 21st of October, 2016 and was released through Dreamville Records. The singer began to earn fame. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music online in 2012 after she released her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her release more music via the Internet including Bound. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as on Sweat It Out on July 21, 2015. In the following year, her music circulated around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some potential references to Rihanna. The 8th of December was the day she confirmed that she had been officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat is a song that was written by her and Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. The 21st of October, 2016 her debut EP was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening act. In 2018, she went on to appear on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video came out on the 5th. Then, on the 9th of November 2018 she dropped two additional singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Then, on November 13 she dropped two more singles titled No One and Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made appearances on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the single as a way to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The song was followed by the music video which debuted in February 20th, 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views on YouTube in the first week. The singer was a part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December the year 2018.
